Round House Folk first met at an informal folk session at the Kentish Horse pub in Mark Beech during the Autumn of 2007. They have since met for weekly practices at Bernard’s house, “the Round House”, and have established themselves as a band. The band perform regular barn dances, as well as making frequent appearances at local village fetes, festivals, and informal folk sessions. They play a variety of Reels, Polkas, Jigs, Hornpipes, Waltzes, and traditional songs from around the British Isles and beyond.

On May 31, 2008, Round House Folk performed their first public gig at the annual Pig’s Ear Kentish Horse Folk Ale Festival in Markbeech. Shortly after, on July 27th, they played alongside Pig’s Ear at the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Kent Wildlife Trust in Bough Beech.

They have since played for many other private and charitable functions, including fundraising barn dances, and community projects, as well as for other charitable, private, and ceremonial occasions. The band have just recorded their first CD. Click below to hear a track from it – a tune called Inisheer, originating from the South West coast of Ireland.
