Prayers 5 February 2017

Heavenly Father, as we come before you, we give thanks for those whose influence has led us to worship in this place. We pray for Wendy and our Church wardens, Nicki and Marielou. We commend to you the tireless work that they do in your name.
We give thanks for the fellowship that we find in this Church, which supports us, as we seek to put your teaching into practice in our daily lives.
Lord in your mercy; Hear our prayer.
God bless Elizabeth our Queen. We give thanks for her steadfast faith in Christ and for delivering the vows made at her coronation, to maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel
At this time of turmoil in the world, when decisions being made are life and death decisions, for often innocent men, women and children; we pray that all who have authority and power may use it for good, upholding and instigating what is right and fair. Lord, we pray that you will be there with our world leaders and that your voice will be heard above their egos and self-interest.
Lord in your mercy; Hear our prayer.
Lord, we thank you for creating us and giving us our families and friends. We ask you to help our relationships and teach us to be more tolerant. Where our relationships are strong, help us to make them stronger. Where they are broken, help us to heal them. Where they are new, help them to grow.
Lord in your mercy; Hear our prayer.
Jesus said ‘Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of heaven.’ Father, we pray for the children in our families, our communities and throughout the world. May they grow up knowing love and hope, valuing life and respecting others. Give them courage and resilience to face the challenges in their lives and, Lord, sit always on their shoulders to guide them.
Lord in your mercy; Hear our prayer.
Gracious Lord, we pray for your healing touch to rest with those who are sick, your strength to be felt by those are tired, your wisdom and love to encourage those who live with despair and fear. We think of those we know who are sick, especially:
Peter Jamieson and Florence Jackson
Lord in your mercy; Hear our prayer.
We pray for those whose hearts have been saddened by the death of someone close to them, for members of our families who have died and those whose anniversaries of death fall at this time.
Lord in your mercy; Hear our prayer.

Father, we ask you to accept with joy, our thanks and praise for all you are and all you accomplish. Grant that your love may so fill our lives, that we may count nothing too small to do for you, nothing too much to give and nothing too hard to bear.

Merciful father, accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
