Intercessions 13th August

Dear God, we thank you for bringing us here today, for our neighbours and friends, for the people in our community who are organising events and bringing people together, for our Reverend Wendy and all the church wardens and we remember all those who have been baptised, confirmed, married and buried here.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

Father of patience and wisdom, please share some of your knowledge with us. Help us to be more patient with each other, to bring calmness in our homes, understanding and respect for each other. To be patient with our children who need time to learn from us and constant support from us, with the teenagers in our lives who go through the transition from child to adult and with whom opinions often clash, with our parents and grandparents who only want our best in life and with ourselves.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

Please help us remove our negative thoughts, self judgement and fear based thinking. Help us be more confident in our goals and do not let us underestimate ourselves. Please hold our hand and bring clarity to our thoughts, love us and give us opportunities to rise.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

We pray for political and economic stability, for gender equality, for diversity and for nature. We pray for strong leaders, guided by good intentions and willing to preserve this world for the future of our children.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

We also ask for your blessing for friends and neighbours and we pray for people in our community.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

We pray for talented, smart, good willed people who make our world a better place. We pray for the police, and the security services that they may find ways to prevent future attacks on our way of life. We pray that evil plans against humanity are not carried out with success. We pray that all those who think about giving their lives to take others that they will see the light of your teaching and love and they will stop.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour,

Jesus Christ. Amen.

Ana Roxburgh
