Intercessions 19 Nov Andrew Russell

The Church

Oh God, We pray for the Christian Church throughout the world, as it seeks to support all those who believe in the divinity of Christ and his message.

Locally we thank you, God, for your influence in building up our Christian communities over the last thousand years or more.

We thank you for this rich heritage and for all those who have sought to propagate your message now and in the past.

We pay tribute and give thanks for Wendy’s ministry and for all those who hold office in our three parishes.    Give them strength in their mission to care for and preach the Gospel to young and old alike.

Lord in your mercy…..hear our prayer

The Queen and those in leadership roles

We seek your blessing, Oh Lord, on the Queen and all the Royal family, and give thanks for their long and devoted service to our country and the Commonwealth.

We give thanks for all those who serve the Country in the armed forces and remember with gratitude all those who have laid down their lives in the past for the peace and security we all enjoy today.

May your values support and inform those entrusted to the Government of our Country at this difficult time.

Lord in your mercy…..hear our prayer

The Local Community

We thank, Oh God, you for all who hold a leadership role in our local community….for the Headmistress and staff at our local Church of England Primary School, …..for those who lead the Parish Council and Residents Association,…. and all those who give of their time and energy to support the old and frail in our community.

We pray especially for the sick in our midst, remembering  those on our prayer sheet and  those You hold in your own prayers.   And we seek your support for all those in the caring professions…. who administer to them….the Doctors and Nursing Staff and those in the allied professions.   Give them compassion and understanding in their work. ….We pray especially for wisdom in those who are charged with the care and development of the Health Service at a time of rising need and financial constraint.

We thank you, Oh God, for all the blessings we enjoy in our lives here,  for the beauty and tranquillity of our surroundings, for the love and companionship of our friends, for our warm homes, good food, and the richness of much modern culture.  We pray You would  Protect our young people from the dangers of some of the modern media.

Lord in your mercy…..hear our prayer

Those who have died recently and all those who mourn.

Oh God, we thank you for the lives of our friends and family who we see no more,  and thank you for the love and care they gave us in our lifetime.   May their example be an inspiration in our lives as we all strive for a more just society both locally and throughout the world.

Merciful Father….accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.   Amen
