Intercessions Nick Irens 22 April 2018

Gracious God, whose Spirit helps us in our weakness and guides us in our prayers, we pray for the Church and for the world in the name of Jesus Christ.

Renew the life and faith of the Church; strengthen our witness and make us one in Christ.

Grant that we and all who confess that Christ is Lord, may be faithful in your service and be so filled with the Spirit, that the world may be turned to you.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

Living God, guide the nations in the ways of justice, liberty and peace, and help them to seek the unity and welfare of all people.

Give all in authority wisdom to know and the strength to do what is right.

We pray not only for the victims, but the perpetrators of evil and violence in our world. We pray for a change of heart and attitude, an awakening to a better way of living.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

Loving Father, comfort those in sorrow; heal the sick in body or in mind and deliver the oppressed.

We pray for those whose lives feel empty or cheated, or filled with pain, or worry, or guilt. For all those whose hopes and dreams are in tatters and for all who are in any kind of tribulation or distress.

Grant us compassion for all who suffer and help us to carry one another’s burdens, that we may fulfil the teaching of Christ.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Jesus said suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for therein lies the kingdom of heaven. Lord, we pray for all women and especially for our friend, Lucy, who will soon experience the miracle of giving birth.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we pray for those whose lives have been saddened by the death of someone close to them, for members of our families who have died and those we have known and loved.

Yesterday, we gathered here to celebrate the life of Rebecca Linden. We pray, Lord, that you will look after her in your home and, when you deem the time right, re-unite her with her family and bring them happiness together again.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, receive our thanks and praise for all who have served you faithfully here on earth, and especially those who have revealed to us your grace in Christ.

May we and all your people share the life and joy of your kingdom, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
