Intercessions Ana Roxburgh 18 February

Dear Lord, as Lent starts we confess our weaknesses and mistakes and we ask for your patience and support to learn from our mistakes and become better people. May our small sacrifice of giving up a daily comfort to help us prepare for receiving your son, our saviour Jesus Christ into our hearts at the time of Easter.

Lord in your mercy

Heavenly Father, bless our children, that may they grow up secure, healthy, loved and happy, that they may grow up into confident, good people, willing to learn and to make the world a better and fairer place for people of any colour and religion. And that we may succeed to inspire our children to live in peace and respect of each other.

We pray that children everywhere will not have access to guns and that they won’t use them or suffer because the use of them. And we pray for the families whose children have been killed by guns, may their suffering be healed and may they find peace. We also pray for the children and the families of the troubled children who have used guns and took innocent lives.

We pray for the children feeling low, stressed, depressed, for those who are experiencing mental health problems and their families. May they find the help they need to come through their difficulties, may they not be pushed into drugs or self harm, may they be saved.

Lord in your mercy

We pray for Elisabeth our Queen, for her family and her reign, for world leaders and the future of humanity.

Lord in your mercy

We pray for the sick people in our community and those recently departed.

Lord in your mercy

God of all creation, we pray for the reduction of waste in the world, for adopting more of a reuse, reduce, repair, recycle, recover attitude to the products we use. We pray for removal of plastic, especially from any food products and for finding alternative materials that are not dangerous for the environment.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen

St Paul’s Four Elms

Conversion of St Pauls

Yesterday was Holocaust Memorial Day. Today the conversion of St Paul – So we see the persecution of the Jews and the persecution of Christians.

We know that we are all capable of evil so look upon us oh Lord, and let all the darkness of our souls, the prejudices of our minds, and the coldness of our hearts vanish before the beams of Thy brightness.

Today we give thanks for Thy holy apostle St Paul, through whom the transforming power of God in Christ was shown to all the world. We thank God for his faith, his example and his teaching which has been an inspiration to Christians down the ages.
So we pray for the Church of Christ throughout the world. We pray for unity despite our differences and make us all in willing devotion to Thee. Bless our Archbishops, Bishops and clergy in their various callings and strengthen them in their ministry. Bless we pray this benefice and Wendy that are churches may be a witness to thy truth.

Lord in your mercy
Pour Thy blessing, oh Lord we pray on Elisabeth our Queen as she fulfils her calling as a Christian ruler. Support her in her ceaseless course of duty and bless her home and family. We pray for this nation at a time of uncertainty and we pray that the media will act responsibly, remembering that many people are anxious about the future.

We pray for all world leaders and all in positions of great influence. Our great desire is for peace and justice and an end to the conflict that the pursuit of power brings.

Lord in your mercy
So we pray for all those parts of the world scared by war and man’s inhumanity, for those afflicted by famine and natural disasters. May we, in our comfort and plenty never forget the needs of others, but give generously for the sake of Him who gave his life for the whole world.

Lord in your mercy
We bring before God all those who are sick, lonely or depressed, those who mourn and those whom life is a burden. Draw near to these Thy children that their love may summoned them, theine arms bear them up and Thy Holy spirit fill them with comfort and peace.

Lord in your mercy
We commend into Thy care those who have died. We give thanks for the saints of every age and those who we have known and loved. May the gospel of Thy Son and the whisper of Thy spirit unite to make our faith in the life to come strong and clear until they lead us home to Thine eternal kingdom of peace and joy.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of Thy Son, our saviour, Jesus Christ.

Four Elms Carols in the Church Garden

Four Elms Carols in the Church Garden had to be moved indoors as the
weather was dull and damp. That didn’t dampen the enthusiasm as supported by
the Edenbridge Town Band, everyone sang familiar carols and heard readings
and poetry. St Pauls was bursting at the seams!. There were so many children
they had to come out into the aisle to sing ‘Away in a Manger’.  Mince pies
and mulled wine were served afterwards – a great success!
